Origins and legacy

Komili traces its roots to Lesbos Island, where Hasan Komili produced soap and olive oil. After the 1923 population exchange following the Treaty of Lausanne, the family settled in Ayvalık, an area famous for its olive groves. The founder’s principle—“with poor quality you deceive the buyer once and yourself forever”—became a guiding ethos for quality and authenticity.

Product range and innovation

Originally an olive oil producer, Komili expanded into personal care, baby, and hygiene products, all leveraging the moisturizing and antioxidant qualities of olive oil. The brand’s range includes extra virgin and Riviera olive oils, liquid soaps, wet wipes, hair care, and baby shampoos, reflecting a balance between heritage and innovation.

Market presence and ownership

Now part of Bunge Limited’s Turkish subsidiary, Komili maintains operations in Ayvalık and exports to over 20 countries. Its olive oil and wellness products continue to symbolize Turkish craftsmanship and Mediterranean natural living. The brand has also been modernized in packaging and marketing to appeal to global consumers while preserving its century-old identity.
